  • Interview & Classroom Observation

    • The in-person interview takes about 20-30 minutes.

    • The interview may also include a 30-minute classroom observation, the observation allows an applicant to get an idea of role and environment.

    Applicant Assessment, Reference Check & Notification Of Decision

    • The Room For Growing leadership team will review applicants, and check references and work history.

    • A director will contact you if a position is offered.

    • The applications of interviewees that did not offer a position, are kept for future openings.

    Job Offer & Background Study Clearance

    • If offered a position a director will send a written job offer via email for the applicant to accept or decline.

    • If a position is accepted, we will email a welcome letter and a background study information request form to complete.

    • Once we receive the completed background information request form and a copy of a state photo id, we will submit the background study.

    • Once the background study is submitted, the new hire will receive two emails to complete the study. The first email will be to sign consent for the state to run a background study, and the second email will be to make an appointment to submit fingerprints.

    • After fingerprints are submitted, Room For Growing receives a clearance letter within 48-72 hours.

    • Once the clearance letter is received a start date will be determined.

    Training, Orientation & CPR & First Aid

    • Before new hires can have direct contact with children, all required training must be complete.

    • Training includes policy and procedure, health and safety, emergencies, SUIDS prevention, abusive head trauma prevention, child development, inclusion and culturally appropriate practice, and takes about 8-10 hours.

    • Once the required training is complete the new hire will begin supervised training in the classroom setting.

    • All new hires are required to become certified in AHA Pediatric CPR & First Aid within the first 90 days of employment. Room For Growing offers the certification quarterly.

    • New hires are required to cover the initial cost of CPR and first aid certification, the cost is about $90 and is deducted from the new hire's paycheck.

    • Earned Paid Time Off From the date of hire employees earn MN Sick & Safe Time at a rate of .033 hours per hour worked.

    • From the date of hire employees earn PTO at a rate of .02 hours per hour worked.

    • After three years of employment employees earn PTO at a rate of .03 hours per hour worked.

    • After four years of employment employees earn PTO at a rate of .04 hours per hour worked.

    • After five years of employment employees earn PTO at a rate of .05 hours per hour worked.

    • After six years of employment employees earn PTO at a rate of .06 hours per hour worked.

  • Employee Childcare When space is available, employees are offered discounted childcare. Employee discounted childcare for an infant are limited to one or two spaces per center.

    Discounted rates are set by Room For Growing and may be subject to change. The discounted rate is only available while employees are employed by Room For Growing, and only for the hours employees are working.

    When an employee’s child is in attendance and the employee is not working the non-working tuition will apply. Employees are required to use the time clock and to accurately clock-in and out their children. Failure to do so will result in the employee being billed the non-working tuition. Employee child care tuition is only available through employee payroll deduction.

    Tuition Rates by Age Group for Working & Non-Working Hours

    • Infants tuition is $2.75/hr during working hours and $6.50/hr during non-working hours

    • Toddler tuition is $2.25/hr during working hours and $5.90/hr during non-working hours

    • Preschooler tuition is $1.75/hr during working hours and $5.50/hr during non-working hours
